| Volunteer Information:
Greetings:
As we prepare for the 2008 IKA Invitational Tournament, to be held in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia July 8, 2008, it is important that we secure volunteers now to work at the tournament as minor officials.
The role of the minor official is very important to a successful, safe and enjoyable tournament for the competitors and is a great experience for those who participate. In order be successful, we will need at least 30 minor officials to work in three rings. Having this many minor officials will allow a rotation of officials, ensuring adequate time for rest breaks and time to enjoy the competition from the best seat in the house!
The minor officials jobs are as follows: score keeper (kata and kumite)
score caller (kata)
time keeper (kumite)
Benefits to volunteering to be a minor official are:
fee admission to the tournament
exclusive minor official golf shirt
best seats at the venue to view the competition.
opportunity to work as a team and get involved
We will be planning training and practice sessions over the coming months and need to have those committed to working on the day of the tournament attend these, and the tournaments planned prior to the July 8/08 competition.
If you are interested in joining our minor officials team, please contact me directly at
(902) 435-6911 or via e-mail at stonestone@eastlink.ca, by September 30, 2007. Messages could also be left at Metro Karate (902) 461-0808.
Your support in making this a successful tournament is much appreciated!
Regards!
Denise Stone
